October Stamp of the Month

As I write this post, I'm thinking of the fabulous Mediterranean Cruise I took six years ago today.  My best friend from school and I left my house at noon for an overnight flight to London.  Every year when the 1st of October arrives, I can't help but think what a fabulous time we had and thank Close To My Heart for enabling me to earn the trip.  Without CTMH, I never would have been able to take the trip of a lifetime!

Create a Card

This is another card that we created in our Stamp a Stack club for September.  We used the C1504 Fall Harvest stamp set. I cut the leaves with the  CTMH Cricut® Artiste and Art Philosophy cartridges.

4 ¼” x 5 ½” side fold card base

4 ¼” x 5 ½” Goldrush card stock

3” x5 ¼” Passages B&T

1” x 5 ¼” Goldrush B&T

3/8” x 5 ¼” Cocoa card stock

Poke cut holes from Goldrush oval.  Stamp sentiment with Desert Sand. Attach to Cocoa oval.  Stamp leaf with Autumn Terra Cotta on Honey card stock and Bamboo card stock.  Cut out.

Attach Passages B&T to right of Goldrush card front. Attach Goldrush B&T to left side.  Attach Cocoa card stock

Wrap Baker’s Twine around card front twice and tie as shown.  Insert hemp though button holes and tie

Attach sentiment, leaves and buttons as shown.

Create a Card

This card was created using the CTMH C1504 Fall Harvest stamp set.  The leaves were cut out using the new CTMH Cricut® Artiste cartridge and the Art Philosophy cartridge.  The papers used in this card are retired CTMH papers called Passages.

Here are the instructions so that you may recreate it.

4 ¼” x 5 ½” top fold card base

4 ¼” x 5 ½” Cocoa side B&T

4” x 5 ¼” Passages B&T

3 ½” x 4 ½” Bamboo card stock

¾” x 3” Bamboo card stock

1” x 2 ½” Bamboo card stock

Distress edges of Bamboo card stock piece.  Ink edges with Desert Sand.  Stamp Sentiment with Goldrush ink.  Stamp leaves with Autumn Terra Cotta on Bamboo, Honey and Goldrush card stock.  Cut out.

Attach Passages B&T to Cocoa B&T. Attach Bamboo card stock on angle as shown.  Insert two copper brads.  Attach two sentiment pieces.  Attach leaves as shown.  Insert hemp through button holes and tie a bow, leaving long ends.

As you probably know by now, this Roxie paper packet is one of my absolute favorite!  X7140B Roxie.  The roses were created using the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Freebie Friday

Good Saturday morning!  Is it still Friday any place?  LOL!  I'm a day late posting. I set out yesterday to pick strawberries.  There's a local strawberry picking place where I normally go every year and pick 25-30 pounds.  I freeze them so that we can have wonderful strawberry shortcake in the dead of winter.  This year the picking was tough.  Back in April, we had a heat wave with a number of 90 degree days, and then it turned very cold and it did a number on the berries, apples, and other fruits.  So, this year the strawberries were extremely small...by that I mean, about the size of wild strawberries!  Normally, I can pick the 25-30 pounds in about 3 hours.  Yesterday it took me more than twice that.  And, of course, that meant I had about a million more berries to hull!  I thought I'd never get done yesterday!

Create a Card

This week's card is an easel card.  This is the front of the card when it's closed.  For this card we used the stamp set C1483 Born to Ride.

Below is the card with the easel showing.

4 ¼” x 8 ½” Black card stock

4 ¼” x 5 ½” Black card stock

3 ¼” x 4 ¼” Black card stock

4” x 5 ¼” Cruisin’ Argyle B&T

2” x 3 ½” Twilight card stock

1 ¾” x 3 ¼” Grey Wool card stock

3” x 4” Embossed Diamond Plate Grey Wool card stock (this was a Cuttlebug embossing folder)

Stamp motorcycle with black ink on Grey Wool card stock.  Ink edges with black ink.  Attach to Twilight card stock.

Attach Embossed Grey Wool card stock to black card stock.  Wrap Baker’s Twine around and tie in a knot.

Attach Cruisin’ Argyle B&T to 4 ¼” x 5 ½” Black card stock piece.  Attach matted embossed piece ½” from bottom and right side.

Attach matted image 1” from bottom of card front 3/8” from right side

Score 4 ¼” x 8 ½” Black card stock at 4 ¼” and 6 3/8”.  Fold the 4 ¼” score as a peak and the 6 3/8’ as a valley.  Attach two or three strips of adhesive on the 2” end.  Attach this to the back of the card front 1 ¼” from top of card front.  

Stamp the Feel the Wind sentiment on the Grey Wool cut out and attach this to the Twilight cut out.  Attach to easel part of card as shown above.  The cut outs for the sentiment were made with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  This stamp set is one of the sets that coordinates with the cartridge and lists the size to cut on the acrylic carrier sheet for the stamps.
